Stonetown is a UNCESCO world heritage site since 2000. It was the main center of the slave trading around the Indian ocean, you can see many important spots of the abominable past of this time. The city is full of historical importance in East Africa. Stonetowns architecture, reflects the various influences underlying the Swahili culture, giving a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. Immerse yourself in all the wonderful smells, colors and spectacle that you can only find here through the mix of the different cultures. The Forodhani Garden is a small park of the historical city of Stonetown. The place is located along the main seawalk of Stonetown, just in front of the most famous buildings of the old city, the House of Wonders and the Old Fort. This place is very famous for locals and tourist to meet and chill, it becomes also very busy during the evening as a night food market.
On our way we pass the famous House of wonders, unfortunately the building is under construction and we just can tell you the history outside of the building
Zanzibar's main market is a hive of activity, with everything. Come and enjoy the smelling of the different spices, fruits and vegetables. See how local deal and bugging on the traditional fish and meat market.
We will pass the famous Slave Market/Anglican Cathredral in Stonetown, we will explain you the history about the slave trade in east africa
Jaws Corner is THE hotspot in Stonetown, drink a fresh brewed coffee and watch the local people playing the typical Bao Game.
