Itinerary and highlights
Your day begins with a morning pick-up from Arusha, Moshi or Kilimanjaro Airport, followed by a scenic drive towards the Last village before Kilimanjaro National park.
Once we arrive, we’ll meet our local guide and begin a short village walk. The trail takes us through lush vegetation, banana and coffee farms and small local communities before reaching Materuni Waterfalls. Take some time to enjoy the scenery, fresh mountain air and the beautiful waterfall before walking back to the village to discover how coffee is traditionally grown, harvested, prepared and roasted by local farmers. You’ll have the chance to take part in the process and of course, enjoy a freshly prepared cup of Tanzanian coffee.
After the coffee experience, enjoy a fresh local lunch prepared in the village, with time to relax and experience the warm hospitality of the local community. In the Late afternoon we’ll drive to the Maasai village on the way back to Arusha
After your visit to Materuni, continue to Ewangani Maasai Village, a welcoming and more accessible introduction to Maasai culture and traditions.
Here, you’ll spend time with members of the local Maasai community and experience everyday traditions at a relaxed pace. Visit traditional Maasai homes, learn about livestock and village life, watch traditional dances, discover the meaning behind Maasai beadwork, and see how fire is traditionally made. Along the way, local hosts share stories and insights that offer a genuine glimpse into Maasai heritage and their way of life.
The experience is centred on respectful cultural exchange experience. You’ll have time to ask questions, listen, and interact naturally with the community
After the visit, continue comfortably to your hotel or airport, carrying with you a deeper understanding of the people and traditions that make this part of Tanzania so special.
Most of this experience takes place around the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a high chance of enjoying beautiful mountain views and great photography opportunities on clear days.
